DID YOU KNOW? |
Massage therapy is a hands-on manipulation of the body’s soft tissues, mainly, muscles, connective tissues, joints, tendons and ligaments. Treatment has a therapeutic effect by acting on the musculoskeletal, nervous and circulatory systems. Therapeutic MassageTherapeutic massage is suitable for all ages and can benefit conditions ranging from acute to chronic. Some of the more common conditions helped include:
Hot Stone Massage
Hot Stone Massage is the use of heated basalt stones in a massage treatment, with some placed on the body and others used by the therapist to massage. Basalt stones are used because of their unique ability to retain heat and their resistance to cracking.
Pregnancy Massage
The practice of Pregnancy Massage is very much like regular therapeutic massage. It is different, however, in that the therapist takes into consideration the various changes that occur in a woman’s body throughout pregnancy. Pregnancy massage is great for reducing aches in the low back, hips and shoulders, as well as providing general relief of tension. Thai Massage
Traditional Thai Massage has its roots in Ayurveda and Chinese massage. It combines stretching and acupressure massage to balance and harmonize the body. It is often referred to as "Lazy Yoga" because of the increased flexibility gained by receiving this treatment.
It can also help to improve and maintain flexibility and restore balance within and between functional groups of muscles to ease pain and improve posture. Relaxation is attained by applying rhythmic motion along energy lines and pressure points with the palms and thumbs. Chinese Massage (Tuina)Tuina Massage is a Chinese massage and can be used for many different conditions including digestive disorders, muscle pain and headache. It uses the same theories as acupuncture by manipulating the acupuncture points but uses the practitioner's fingers, thumbs, hands and elbows, instead of acupuncture needles. Pediatric Tuina massage is especially popular in China, where large departments in hospitals practice it regularly. Workplace Massage
